A cleft between the high roofs and the walls allows for free passage of air and light into all the levels and there is ample natural ventilation. The architecture relies on minimal use of walls and they have been erected only in places where they are necessary with glass extensively and expansively filling up in most other places. From the highway the house appears too short and lying on its backdrop is the large beautiful ocean.
This is the right place where you may find that the neutral sober kind of interiors that too for the entire house would not be so boring and dull. The owners were keen of not having any western styles and the designers attempted to make it in the desired way.
Accompanied by the Louis Poulsen Panthella Floor Lamp this pendant light acts more like a floor lamp and balances the design. Stretched over a wooden frame the Moments pattern from Marimekko fabrics was painted in neon colors. The comfy couch is lit from another beautifully designed piece – the AJ wall lamp by Arne Jacobsen also seen in the bedroom.
In contrast the kitchen very simple and the main aim has been to make it more functional. The designer has succeeded in that. Like Andrews’ other projects vintage pendants light fixtures vases and the like are used aplenty here too. In short what you get to see is an amalgamation of all styles and periods. It has won the 2012 CH+D Award winner for Residential Interior Design. The house stands on 3000 sq ft of space.
And you can easily understand it as per the wish of the owners the design he deployed is nothing close to formal. That makes the indoors accessible and brings in a feel of intimacy. It is vary live-able spacious and above all kid-friendly.
A designed by Jeff Andrews in Beverly Hills has succeeded in fulfilling all the demands of the owners — and we must say it’s a feast for the eyes. Andrews knew the owners well as this was actually his third project for the couple.
With beautiful colors and astounding features that could make anyone fall in love with it the entire home has been divided into two equal sections with the help of a horizontal plane that ensures that half of the entire home lies underground and is protected away from the adjacent highway while the other half offers magnificent and unending views of the waves and the rocky coast.
