Belgian studio Cocoon Architecten started from an existing farmhouse in Genk Belgium and constructed a modern oasis of comfort prepared to take on a new lifestyle. The Framework House now displays the existing building and an additional black volume facing the street.
My favorite is the kid’s bedroom which in contrast is lavishly decorated and appears like a crowded space full of colors and energy. The outdoor seating arrangement is so cool with the simplicity of the furniture and the lamp shades. Though everything here appears quite simple a lot of effort has been taken to attain the perfection. So that is a perfect example of a countryside home in Ireland. Already longing for one?
The catwalk staircase in the central is the major highlight here. The sitting area and office are on the second floor. The interiors reflect an ultra-modern outlook. Since the couple have baby boy born towards the end of the renovation works baby-proofing elements were also incorporated into the design.
The dining area takes advantage of the wide floor to ceiling windows allowing the natural light from outside to brighten up your breakfast. The trees outside provide privacy for a large portion of the year.
Surprising architectural developments are easy to spot – an unusually shaped home immediately catches your attention. This is the case with the Beam House designed by Uri Cohen Architects – a single family residence that seems to have been folded onto itself. Divided in three different parts – private semi private and public – the house bearing the name of its defining feature is a mixture of traditional inspiration and clean modern design.
Situated next to the owner’s farm this modern display of architecture features a utility wall containing the AC unit storage and bathrooms placed between the public and semi-public programs. A beautiful detail in the living room captures the attention of first time visitors – the part where the exterior architecture forms a bullet shaped nook corresponds to the creative seating unit in the open space living area reminiscent of comfortable lounging chairs.
Spread across 12000 sq ft of space the mansion created by and of jamesthomas imbibes all those natural elements into it at the same time sports a very modern outlook. Once you step inside you can find that the indoor decor has been done in a way that it holds an earthly sort of sober tone to it. There is not much use of any contrasting color or style and everything appears to be in a neutral and balanced way.
